It’s really befuddling how those coin door parts could be so cattywampus! Just wow!
Looking great! I love the paint you used on the cabinet.
Sou técnico de pimball desde os anos 80, amo essa profissão
That tilt panel wouldn't look out of place in an old railway signal box. Beautiful thing.
Thanks. It’s strange sometimes how the most minor parts can really become focal points.
Hammer tone would look great
You were able to run that ground braid so straight without the use of a level! Apparently, you’ve got great instincts for these sorts of things. That or just tons of experience! Likely both… 👍
I have a few either quirks or gifts not a lot but one is I can truly eyeball if something is straight within a pretty accurate measurement when double checked. It’s great when I am working but terrible when I look around the house.
He did a great job. I belive he used the bolts and wood as a guide for level.
Great job. Really inspiring.
Captain fantastic is looking really nice 👍 The tilt panel was a good addition. I really like that silver on the legs as well , almost matches the stainless perfectly!
Thank you! That title panel is the nicest part of the game in a small strange way. It’s like a miniature piece of furniture.
damn...I really got to get going with fixing my cap. fan! This is really great stuff...Thanks again 🙏
Hi, Christopher! Hey, where did you end up putting the knocker on this one? I couldn’t find it in the video. Thx!
I put it in a position where it slaps the backboard area(part of the cabinet on this era) so it’s tucked away. I thought I showed it somewhere in the videos but sometimes little things get cut in the edit. Gotta get better at that when time and experience allows.
@@highendpins, thanks for the info! And your edits are just fine! 👍
@@abc12346038 😂you haven’t seen my next video yet!
@@highendpins 😂😂😂
Another perfect song selection!
that's super cleaned u fix it and done a awesome job I never seen one like this even I play this in completion and playboy in the 80's and 90's sell it to me hehe
Thank you.
@@highendpins yes which I could have one that condition and bring it to australia
Excelent work, but the coils Say " Stern" ?????
I am aware. I just like the consistency of the white wrappers. I could split hairs with the best of them.
@@highendpins i'm from Argentina and i'm My country it's imposibil do this work. We don't have parts and import are very expensive. But our work is incredible. Congratulation.
"Patina" would be the adjective I was thinking....
Yeah that’s it. But not the type where people carved their name in it and left cigarettes burning on there 😂
Why do you hide your likes? Seems like you do very nice work.
Appreciate that. They are just too underwhelming for the effort put into it to display.
You're the real Captain Fantastic!
@@ExpressoMechanicTV Thanks. I am always trying !
it blows my mind you can spray down electrical components
I know. I was resistant to the idea at first but had a few things worth gambling on then quickly discovered the benefits of it.
Just found your channel. Beautiful, clean work. Can't wait to watch more of your content. Very inspiring.
Glad to have you here.
Love the sign at the end. Could this be a clue that your working on your own brew? 😂
No I am better at making the sign than the brew 🤣
Wow! I’m so impressed by everything you do and how you do it. I feel like I’m watching Picasso create a masterpiece.
Thank you it’s just OCD and a certain skill set in action. I really appreciate the comments it is why I bother putting this up here to start with. A little interaction goes a long ways or else I just work in silence.
@@highendpins, I’m currently looking for a SMDM and when I find one, I’d love to talk to you about the possibility of having it restored to new. Would you be up for another 70s Bally restore??? 😁
I would really love to do. SMDM or a Nitro Ground shaker specifically along with EK. These are games that I have a true affinity for.
@@highendpins, awesome! I’ll be in touch. I’d imagine you’d rather restore an original pf as opposed to working with a repro given that SMDM has several of those rollover targets…
@@abc12346038 Cool. It doesn’t matter whatever it takes to make it happen is what I will deal with. A NOS playfield is great when it’s an option but when it is not I know what to do.
what do you use to spray the electric parts ?
An orange cleaner that is citrus based not solvent nor corrosive then a spray soap followed by an extremely thorough rinse and drying process. It really important to use non corrosive cleaners. It is essential.
@@highendpins thank you
Fantastic! I love what you did with it. Thumbs up all around. 😁👍
So clean! As usual. Amazing job. Kudos.
People may not know it, but washing electronics is ok, actually. If you think water may get in a part and may stay there (which could be a problem), you can then do a water displacement bath in IPA. IPA is hydrophilic (as most alcohols), so it will remove water from electronic parts, and then evaporate.
Yes. There is a washing process at many electrical component companies. The solutions can vary but the main take away is that moisture is not as much the issue as current applied prior to drying.
Imagine , roll overs you don’t have to spend 45 mins each on filing off a ton of clear 😂. Great job , playfield looks like glass !
Great tip on using the flat sander vs vacuum assist sander. I'll remember that one. I very much appreciate you going into details like that.
I miss INXS so much. Great song.
Do the chemicals in your paint penetrative the stencil and release the adhesive on the stencils? I've only used those a couple times. I usually hand cut poster board, so haven't really encountered that.
I think the material used is the culprit. It doesn’t happen with masking tape nor the stencil material that my cameo uses(oracle 813). There are different grades of material up to those that are solvent resistant. Most people doing this are hobbyists using latex, rattle cans or oil based so it probably isn’t an issue there but solvent based finishes can be much more volatile.
Awesome as always. I'm so glad you show your work. Otherwise, no one would ever understand how much time and effort goes into these masterpieces.
I appreciate that. Most people outside of the hobby think these are $500-1000 games and it shouldn’t cost more than a couple hundred dollars to restore one.
Whenever I do stencils I’m always super paranoid about that happening. I wait a full week between colors . Yup , that’s how paranoid I am . Even after a week I’ve still had it happen slightly . Always amazed at your paint work . Makes me realize I have a long way to go to ever get close to your level .
Thanks. The type of paint I use can be masked in thirty minutes. I usually wait an hour or so. I have actually had it happen just applying the stencil and letting it set for a short amount of time. It could be the material batches or luck of the draw.
Oh, I own one of these.
Yup, I had this issue on our Meteor pf from CPR. They did give me a credit for $50 per insert, but it really came to less than that because when I went to use that credit it invalidated the bundle deal, which kinda pissed me off. A credit shouldn't invalidate a bundle deal. But if you need a playfield your options are limited. Imagine trying to do a playfield like Bally's Strikes and Spares. Forget about it! I could rant on more because it wasn't just a matter of clear gumming up the inserts. The inserts were literally too shallow for the roll over button. Meaning the roll over button no matter what would not sit flush to the playfield. I had to modify my roll over buttons which makes this game not user friendly for the next owner. It's stupid. Chris I would really like to know your thoughts on this and how you address it. It can't just be me. Who wants a roll over button that is 1/8" above the playfield when fully depressed diverting your ball or balls all over the place.
I address that by avoiding it any chance I can but when I do have no choice. I often forstner bit the CPR inserts out then replace them with proper versions. It might come up on here one day.
Holy crap Chris, prayers going out to you guys. I pray for her full recovery.
Chris, what a story about your wife. Thank God she is okay. We had no idea. I just know that the end of your HGT video was very touching. Thank you for sharing.
She is doing great now two weeks later. I really appreciate the well wishes.
Lower board is sometimes called the "motor board" since the score motor is located there.
Does anyone know what the purpose of the light black spray is after the first coat of paint?
Helps see imperfections. A light sanding takes it off and what's left are the low spots to be filled.
Always like watching you do the bodywork. I know you came from that background . Your skill set is amazing! Sending good vibes to you and your family Chris !
Sorry to hear about your wife and pray for a quick recovery. Already sounds like she beating some of the odds. Hopefully thats the only time she deals with a health scare like that!
Thank you. She is doing great so far.
You're a master of your craft, Christopher but I gotta say, sometimes my favourite part is the music that you choose. Happy to hear that Sandy is on the mend. Much love to you and your family.
Thanks. We are getting back into the groove around here. I appreciate the love!
I’m doing a CPR six million dollar man Playfield swap right now . And no joke , last night I was taking a number 11 blade meticulously scraping the clear out of the roll overs. It takes like 30-40 mins per roll over . Takes a ton of patience. Hit the nail on the head with your assessment. Side by side the colors and line work is pretty dam good , but the roll overs are a huge PITA .
The more I watch your videos , the more I find we have in common on how we restore things . I always make sure the game is up and running and working properly before I break it down . My thinking is that if I have issues when I get it back together I can hone in more on what the problem might be . Instead of guessing if it’s an issue from before tear down . Nice to see you doing a EM . They are so cool , amazing what they did with all leaf switches back then .
I’m interested in how you rebuild a EM.
Really amazing looking game
If the CPR had better printing it'd be a tougher decision. But as it stands, the NOS playfield is far more authentic.
My favorite ❤ pinball machine all time ❤
That was a good game of pinball and loved the ending. Very cute you two.
@@willierants5880 Thanks. My wife just got out of the hospital the day before we made that video having had a stroke two days before that so there is a lot of significance for us at the end. I did not want to taint that video with personal drama but I can’t imagine not putting something in there under those circumstances so it’s a subtle acknowledgment.
@@highendpinsGlad to see she is doing well Chris . Prayers coming your way to you and the family . If you need anything please give me a call 🙏👍👊🏻
Thank you Scott. I really appreciate that.
I'm looking for this machine. Breathtaking machine ❤

Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
